What does an NDIS counselling session cost?

The standard rate is $156.16 per 60-minute session. That figure matches the current national maximum price for Therapy — Counsellor — Telehealth under the NDIS Pricing Schedule effective 24 September 2026, so participants and plan managers can see exactly where the number comes from.

Price limits for remote and very remote locations are higher where the applicable geographic classification permits. Any difference that applies to a participant is identified and agreed before the first session, not added to an invoice afterwards.

What is included in the session rate?

  • A scheduled 60-minute counselling appointment by phone or secure video
  • A therapeutic focus agreed with the participant and reviewed over time
  • Clear fees, consent, privacy and cancellation terms before support begins
  • Invoicing that matches a self-managed or plan-managed arrangement

How is counselling funded for self-managed participants?

Self-managed participants, or their nominee, are invoiced in accordance with the agreed service arrangement. The invoice reflects the agreed rate, the session length and the cancellation terms recorded in the service agreement, so the participant can claim from their plan in the usual way.

How is counselling funded for plan-managed participants?

For plan-managed participants, invoices are directed to the plan manager using the agreed billing details. The participant, nominee or support coordinator supplies those details before support begins, and the same agreed rate applies.

What does the service agreement cover before support starts?

Every participant receives a service agreement before counselling begins. It sets out the rate, the session length, cancellation and non-attendance arrangements, consent, how information is handled under our Privacy Policy, and how to communicate between sessions. Nothing in the agreement is a surprise added later.

Can I confirm my plan will fund counselling?

Only the NDIS can confirm what a plan will fund. NDIS funding for counselling depends on the individual plan, its stated goals and the NDIS funding criteria, which is why an enquiry does not guarantee that a support can be claimed. What we can do is explain the service clearly, confirm whether it fits the request, and set out the billing pathway before any appointment is arranged.

What the fee does not cover

Our NDIS service is counselling only. The rate does not include psychology, psychiatry, medical treatment, behaviour support, support coordination, personal care or in-home assistance, and we do not provide those services. The Brave Mind Project is also not an emergency or crisis service: if there is immediate danger, call Triple Zero on 000.
